It’s with a mix of sadness and immense gratitude that we announce the recent transfer of our beloved Principal R.G.Premarathne. (16.06.2025) For nearly two years, he wasn’t just an administrator but was a true cornerstone of our school community, leading with unparalleled kindness and a genuine dedication to every student and staff member.
After the departure of the founder of New Buonavista, Mr. Karunarathne Ganewatta, the school was like a ship in disturbed water; everyone was worried about the tomorrow of the school. Still, there were many challenges left as a school, a number of questions to be answered if the school to move forward. It needed a proper leader to continue the prevailing process. For her fortune, Mr. Premarathne accepted the challenge to steer the Buonavista ship along its course. He preciously understood that this was not an ordinary school and the task of the principal could not be the orthodox one. The school had many infra-structural voids; he had to face the reality of managing a school while facilitating its physical resources.
Mr. Premarathne identified the concept of crafting universal characters out of Buonavistians. He did not hesitate to continue the concept of Smart School maintained by the school. He re-structured the classrooms and upgraded the school network system to provide latest facilities to the school. Catering the concept of the School with Opportunities, he organized many grand events to give more opportunities to the students in the school. Throughout the period of his management, he not only was able to maintain the legacy of the past principal but also created his own in a unique way.
He did not forget to continue improving the physical resources in the school. He developed many infrastructures in the school including the main entrance of the school. He gave much focus to the primary section of the school as it is the foundation of a successful school. The primary section got totally upgraded expanding the capacity with new classrooms and he introduced a new principal to the section.
His vision was to bring the school up to the standard of the leading schools in Gall Zone. He with the support of the Old Pupils’ Association organized the Battle of Fraternity, the big match between the school and Upananda College. During his time, he gave much opportunities to the sports and extra-curricular activities to give more opportunities to students. Under his vision, the school prize giving gave boost to the students and the grandeur was a key of the events organized to uplift the standard of the school -the truth is that a single post like this cannot cover the service he rendered to the school.
He was a kind hearted and a friendly leader. It was easy to approach him and he was always humane in his speech and behavior. He never hesitated to give the due recognition to the service rendered by the late principal, Mr. Ganewatta. Further, he did not forget to admire the teachers and pay the gratitude to the retired teachers. Under his leadership, the ceremonious and heart felt gathering of the teachers organized in the year 2024 is an epitome of his humane quality.
His departure was sudden and unexpected. He had to accept role of a government officer and to provide the leadership to a new school. We believe that he will continue his great service to the students of the nation. We, Buonavistians are indebt of your fatherly service. Your name too will be written in the history of the school as a kind hearted leader. We wish you all the best for you to enlighten more lives in our country and stay healthy and blessed.
